Buenos Aires, November 14 (NA) -- The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) has issued a warning prohibiting several products due to alleged quality deviations.
This measure was initiated following a notification from the Environmental Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health of Chubut province regarding an outbreak of the bacterium Klebsiella pneumoniae in 13 oncology patients. According to the Argentine News Agency, based on information in the report, authorities observed an outbreak of Klebsiella pneumoniae with natural resistance to ampicillin, and upon analyzing the cases, they discovered that the affected patients had received the products during their hospitalization.
In response to this critical situation, the institution took samples for blood cultures and subcultures, and in recent hours, they indicated which products have been immobilized and their distribution and use in the country have been prohibited.
To prevent further cases, it was announced that preventively, healthcare professionals and institutions will not be able to use the batches of the mentioned products "until the regulatory measure is established and the investigations in the case are concluded".
Additionally, provincial health authorities are requested to inform if there are any jurisdictional alerts and/or new related cases.
